Organizations need to look for the ‘right orientation’ rather than the ‘right competence’
Companies are waking up to many ideas. They are recognizing that there is a real need for getting people with the right orientation. They are beginning to recognize that “competence” grows over time. They are beginning to realize that it is endless what people have to learn- because once they have done an engineering degree for example, in 5 years time they may have to re-invent themselves so much – as the pace of change can be so much.
But if the orientation is right, the man is right. If the orientation is wrong, it is most likely that he would not have learnt anything in his engineering, and most likely would not learn anything in the next five years.
So it is orientation, that companies are beginning to realize, that is the key to success.
